Senior CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, Director at BKA Wealth, and the person on your client letter who answers the phone when you call. For families, founders and senior professionals in Cape Town and across South Africa.
“The hardest job in our industry is not finding the right investment. It is sitting on it long enough to let it work.”
Petri is a co-founder, Director and Senior CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® at BKA Wealth, and prides himself on establishing long term relationships built on sustainable solutions.
While studying law at the University of the Free State, he started his career at Boshoff Visser Financial Services and went on to join the Liberty Group as a financial adviser. His strong need for independence in the financial planning space drove him to join Lifeforce Financial Services in Sea Point, Cape Town.
He qualified as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional after completing his Postgraduate qualification in Financial Planning at the University of Stellenbosch, then established his own boutique wealth management and advisory practice, Beyers Kotze & Associates (Pty) Ltd (later BKA Wealth), in 2012 together with Paul Kotze.
He went on to complete an MBA Degree, allowing him to structure business solutions for SMEs and to fully understand the complexities of operating in the South African commercial market. His scope of expertise spans from the young professional starting out to the successful business owner and retiree. Petri is a Key Individual at BKA Wealth and a member of the Investment Committee.
A small, stubborn set of principles. They sound simple. In an industry wired for noise, they are anything but.
No house view. No proprietary product. No quota. The advice is paid for by the client and answers only to the client.
We move at the pace of good decisions. Every recommendation is researched, written down and explained before it is implemented.
Success measured in decades and generations. The portfolios we build are designed to be inherited, not replaced.
A small practice with a deep bench. Through Graviton, every client has institutional resources at hand and a single adviser to call.
Wealth managed as a single, integrated brief, so that nothing falls between the cracks of separate advisers.
Petri has been our adviser for more than a decade. He is the person we ring before any large decision, financial or otherwise. The advice is always considered and quietly delivered, and it has been right far more often than I would like to admit.
What I value most is that they do not try to sell us anything. The plan we have is the plan they wrote, and they revisit it each year not as theatre, but to ask what has actually changed. That alone is rare in this industry.
I came to BKA after a difficult year, when our previous adviser had let things drift. Petri spent the better part of a year putting our affairs in order, patiently, and without ever making me feel foolish for what we had not known.
We do not publish a minimum. Our clients range from young professionals just starting to invest, through to families with substantial multi generation portfolios. The first conversation tells us both whether the relationship makes sense.
A transparent annual advice fee, agreed up front and disclosed in writing. We do not earn product commissions on most investments, which keeps the advice aligned with your interests. Full fee schedules are shared in the discovery meeting before any commitment is made.
An hour, at our cost, in person at our Durbanville office or virtually. We listen first. We will ask about what you actually want, not just the financial brief. You leave with a clear sense of whether what we do can help, regardless of whether you become a client.
We are independent. There is no house view, no proprietary product to push, and no sales targets that bias the advice. The Graviton partnership gives us institutional research and capability without the conflicts that come with selling in house funds.
Yes. We currently advise clients across eight jurisdictions on hard currency portfolios, externalisation, global custody and ongoing reporting. We coordinate with your tax adviser where the structure crosses jurisdictions.
No. Most of our clients live in Cape Town and the Western Cape, but we work with clients across South Africa and abroad. Annual reviews and ad hoc conversations happen in person or virtually depending on what suits you.
Pick a time that suits you. We meet virtually or in person at our Durbanville office. If we do not think we are the right fit after the first conversation, we will say so.
